Amazing Spider-Man #679.1

Spidey saves the BAGELS. This is my first time drawing Spidey professionally and only the 2 time ever so it was a lot of figuring things out. Like webbing.

This is one of those pages that i didn’t think was best left up to the fill-in guy. This i thought should have be designed by the regular artist a lot earlier than it was. That way everyone knows where rooms are and they can keep thing consistent several rooms had to be rearranged to make sense.

I had fun drawing Uatu and Peter but i was still trying to figure them out. It’s tough coming in cold and having to figure things out, plus this was a flash back of sorts.

This page is were something happened and i’m not sure why but in my script each tier is a different day and it’s supposed to say the next day each time hence the clothing changes and the different panel compositions. Although the last one still doesn’t work for me. Or panel 5 as it’s been established the Uatu is 4 foot nothing and Morbius is a 6 footer but that panels 6 and 5 had to mirror each other so it had to be cheated.

Ah the board and my little joke, in the script all the scientist were listed except for Moribus but i figure Peters a smart guy. But since he’s a vampire no photo so peter wrote it out.

Aslight homage to the famous Moribus vs Spidey cover in the church. Very subtle but the black columns are at the same angle and the out reaching hand is in honor of it.

This sequence i really wanted to portrait Moribus a a former junky, super gaunt and lethargic

I wish i had the time to change the face on the big panel a bit was never 100% on it, it works just not what i saw in my head.

I really liked how the small figure of Spidey kicking Moribus turned out, sometimes the best stuff is very minute compared to the rest of the page but i liked it.

This is a sequence where time was a major factor and i had to do things and rearrange things to make things flow and work it doesn’t happen often but this was one of those times.

Uatu’s big reveal.

I’m not a fan of this page i think personally fight pages should be no more than 4 panels maybe it was my editors at DC that drummed that into my head. Were demolishing a good chunk of the Horizon Building but becasue of the high panel count it’s kinda lost. IMHO

Uatu jet packs into the battle with his holographic crosses, neither of which were in the script BUT what a entrance. Another change and this was because earlier in the script Uatu’s gear was non traditional stuff, but a few pages later on this page he was to have a cross bow…so i made it a ray gun that fires laser bolts.

Just a nice page with a bunch of friends as scientist at Horizon labs.

This is a great 6 panel page lot of angles and movement but not to crowded the last panel was moved from page 20 to this page I felt it worked better.
